Colours of Navratri

Sharad Navratri is on the door step and everyone is getting ready for the largest festival of India which is going to start from 1st October 2016. Navratri, the name itself implies that it is a festival of nine forms of Maa Durga, celebrated in nine days.

The first day of Navratri we pray to Shailputri

Second Navratri is dedicated to Maa Brahmacharini

Third Navratra is devoted to Maa Chandraghanta

The fourth one is to pray to Maa Kooshmanda

Fifth Navratra is for Skandmata 

Sixth Navratra one prays to Maa Katyayani

Seventh Day of the Navratri is dedicated to Maa Kalratri (Maa Kali)

The Eighth day of the holy period is devoted to Maa Mahagauri

The Ninth day is for the 9th form of Maa Shakti, Sidhidatri

The three Gods Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva united their energy to form Maa Durga to kill demon Mahishasura. The battle lasted for 9 days and 9 nights. On the 10th day, Maa Durga killed demon Mahishasura and this day is Vijayadasami which signifies the triumph of goodover bad. The atmosphere while navratri becomes special because Maa Durga lives in our home these nine days. 

During the nine days of Navratri, there is a custom of wearing the different colour dress and there are lots of people who are very excited to know which color will good for these nine days of navratri. Pratipada - October 1, 2016 (Saturday) - Grey 

Pratipada - October 2, 2016 (Sunday) - Orange 

Dwitiya - October 3, 2016 (Monday) - White 

Tritiya - October 4, 2016 (Tuesday) - Red 

Chaturthi - October 5, 2016  (Wednesday) - Blue (Navy Blue)

Panchami - October 6, 2016 (Thursday) - Yellow 

Sashti  - October 7, 2016 (Friday) - Green 

Saptami - October 8, 2016 (Saturday)  -  Peacock Green

Ashtami - October 9, 2016 (Sunday)  - Purple

Navami - October 10, 2016 (Monday)  - Sky Blue

Dasami - October 11, 2015 (Tuesday) - Pink
